A member of our team developed and marketed the Ambassadors in Education Award for MetLife Foundation and the National Civic League. The national award program recognizes teachers and principals in public schools across the United States who are serving as role models for community engagement and collaboration.
The Challenge: The MetLife Survey of the American Teacher found that many educators in urban environments, especially in communities of color, don't understand the communities where they teach. This lack of understanding impairs their ability to impact their students and engage members of the community in constructive ways to help the students and the school. To address this issue, MetLife Foundation and the National Civic League wanted to create an award program for educators who are serving as role models for community engagement. A deadline of just three months to complete the entire program complicated the situation.
The Solution: A member of our team stepped in and developed the new national program in just four weeks. The name, marketing plan, databases, marketing materials, media releases, and a Web site were ready and launched in record time.
The Result: In just six weeks, the program generated hundreds of nominations from across the nation. It also generated dozens of media placements that helped spotlight the challenge facing public schools and the award-winning educators who are overcoming these obstacles. The program has been renewed and expanded every year since 2004.
